One Rail Covers The Top Three: The Show Jumping Picture At Morven Park
Off The Record leads Conner by 0.3 and Claus 63 by 2.2 going into the final phase of the US Equestrian Open of Eventing Final. How the top five have jumped, and who further down the order is built for a clear.

Will Coleman & Off The Record go into the show jumping on 28.6, their dressage score. Isabelle Bosley & Conner are 0.3 behind on 28.9. Sharon White & Claus 63 are third on 30.8. One rail costs 4 penalties, so the top three are separated by less than a single fence.
A clear round has decided every Morven Park CCI4*-L since 2021. All five winners jumped clear on the final day, and four of the five cross-country leaders went on to win. The exception was Off The Record a year ago: he led after cross-country, had one rail and finished second, 0.4 behind Miks Master C.
Twenty-two combinations jump in reverse order this afternoon. The leader goes last. Below: what each of the top five needs, and how they have jumped in their last five international rounds.
Clear inside the time and the title is theirs. Off The Record was the fastest horse on Saturday, 8 seconds inside the 10'09" optimum, and one of only two rounds inside the time from 33 starters. That took him from 7th after dressage to the lead.
The question is the same one as last year. He has seven international wins, an Aachen title among them, none in a long format. He has jumped clear in one of seven rounds at CCI4*-L and CCI5* level, at Pratoni in 2022. His last two rounds were both clear. A rail, or one second over the time, opens the door for Conner.
The nine-year-old came home exactly on the optimum time, the only other horse inside it. The model rated him 37th of 41 for a cross-country clear. This is his first CCI4*-L completion; his only other ended on cross-country at Bromont in June.
If Isabelle Bosley jumps clear inside the time and Will has a rail, or even one second over the time, the title is hers. The catch: one clear from four starts at CCI4* level, and time penalties in all four. His last clear inside the time came when he won the CCI3*-L at Fair Hill on his dressage score a year ago.
Four Morven four-longs, and Saturday was his first clear across country here. Claus 63 needs a rail from both pairs above him. He has some room on the clock: with Off The Record and Conner on a rail each, Claus could add up to 1.6 time penalties and still win.
The clock is his habit. Time penalties in seven of his last ten rounds, including 1.2 here last year when he jumped clear. Two clears from four starts at CCI4*-L and CCI5* level, none inside the time. A win would be Sharon's first at CCI4*-L since Bromont in 2008 with The King's Spirit.
The best show jumping record in the field. Imperio Magic has jumped 13 straight rounds clear inside the time, all at four-star and five-star level. His last rail came at Stable View in April 2024. He is 4 from 4 clear inside the time at CCI4*-L and CCI5* level.
He was 32nd after dressage. A cross-country clear with 1.6 time penalties lifted him to 4th. The podium needs Claus 63 to have two rails and time, or three rails. Fourth is the realistic target: 0.5 covers 4th to 7th.
A CCI4*-L debut for the mare, who posted a career-best 26.9 in dressage and her fastest four-star cross-country round on Saturday. She is 0.2 behind Imperio Magic and 0.1 ahead of Invictus.
No rails at her last two four-star runs, both top-two finishes, including her first four-star win at the Maryland International in June. Time penalties at her last three: 3.6, 3.2 and 2.8. With 4th to 7th covered by 0.5, the clock decides where she finishes.
Four combinations outside the top five come in with the records to jump clear. A clear will not win the title from here, but places from 4th down are tight.
Off The Record jumps last. If he goes clear inside the time, nothing else matters.
